Narrative:

After takeoff from dca, while climbing through 3800 ft, #3 engine fire light came on. The crew immediately requested vectors to dulles. ATC asked us to descend to 3000 ft and positioned us for a 5 mi final. The crew completed all emergency checklists. We informed the passenger of our change of destination, contacted cabin attendants and gave them a brief. Engine fire light went out after throttle was retarded. 11 mins after takeoff, we landed on runway 19L. We used minimum braking after landing because of overweight condition (162000 pounds). We stopped on the taxiway, shut #3 engine, and had fire trucks inspect aircraft. No problems were encountered, we taxied to the gate. We did not declare an emergency.
