Narrative:

Near miss occurred between airliner accelerating at 10000 ft and a small twin assumed VFR at 10500 ft. Pilots were trailing another airliner at 5 NM when PF noted pop up TCASII traffic. Pilots visually acquire VFR target between the 2ND airliner and initiated a descent to increase miss distance. TCASII then issued an RA instructing a 1500-2000 FPM climb. We complied and started a right turn setting up a left to left head on pass in order to increase miss distance. We passed +/- 300 ft apart and continued on our way. Thank you TCASII.
