Narrative:

Climbing to cruise southeast of tlh the captain's windshield (outer pane) shattered. There was no bird strike or hail encountered. Light rain and smooth ride at time of occurrence. Aircraft had previous windshield deferral for an 'south' shaped scratch which had been in the log for over a month. Aircraft maintained structural integrity so we elected not to declare emergency. We did return to the tallahassee airport without further incident.
