Narrative:

When repositioning aircraft from non movement area in front of FBO to non movement area associated with main passenger terminal taxied via the short connector between the 2 areas. Tower frequency was monitored at that time and no calls or advisories were received. Upon arrival at passenger gate was informed to contact the tower by phone. Tower advised that we had taxied on taxiway P. No other aircraft or equipment were moving on taxiway P or taxiway a at time of occurrence and no conflicts with other aircraft or ground personnel occurred. I would recommend better taxiway markings on these types of ramp/combination txwys, and more distinction on airport diagrams where these 2 areas are not separated by some type of median. I would also advise any flight crew to call ground control any time when moving aircraft on a control tower equipped field regardless of ramp status.

Title: B727 FLC REPOSITIONING ACFT DOES NOT CONTACT TWR PRIOR TO TAXI.

Narrative: WHEN REPOSITIONING ACFT FROM NON MOVEMENT AREA IN FRONT OF FBO TO NON MOVEMENT AREA ASSOCIATED WITH MAIN PAX TERMINAL TAXIED VIA THE SHORT CONNECTOR BTWN THE 2 AREAS. TWR FREQ WAS MONITORED AT THAT TIME AND NO CALLS OR ADVISORIES WERE RECEIVED. UPON ARR AT PAX GATE WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT THE TWR BY PHONE. TWR ADVISED THAT WE HAD TAXIED ON TXWY P. NO OTHER ACFT OR EQUIP WERE MOVING ON TXWY P OR TXWY A AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE AND NO CONFLICTS WITH OTHER ACFT OR GND PERSONNEL OCCURRED. I WOULD RECOMMEND BETTER TXWY MARKINGS ON THESE TYPES OF RAMP/COMBINATION TXWYS, AND MORE DISTINCTION ON ARPT DIAGRAMS WHERE THESE 2 AREAS ARE NOT SEPARATED BY SOME TYPE OF MEDIAN. I WOULD ALSO ADVISE ANY FLC TO CALL GND CTL ANY TIME WHEN MOVING ACFT ON A CTL TWR EQUIPPED FIELD REGARDLESS OF RAMP STATUS.
