Narrative:

A few mins after check on frequency 128.52, we were given 'descend to FL310 for traffic.' we started down and were told to be at FL310 in 4 mins or less. When frequency 128.52 said, 'I see you are going to dallas...,' I started wondering if we had a problem because we were going to las vegas, nv. I asked 128.52 if he was talking to us (our flight and number). He then clarified he had been talking to another aircraft. We then realized we may have taken a clearance, and possibly a handoff for another aircraft. We stopped our descent at FL320 while we were getting the situation clarified. Frequency 128.52 then reclred us to FL350 and said 'sorry about the confusion, thanks for the help' and put us on frequency 134.35. 134.35 said that there had been no conflict. Apparently there were 2 aircraft with the same call numbers on the same frequency and we were not advised.

Title: B737 FLC TAKES ANOTHER ACFT CALL SIGN. FLC DETERMINES THEY MAY HAVE ACCEPTED DSCNT CLRNC FOR ANOTHER ACFT AND INITIATES COM TO RESOLVE SIT.

Narrative: A FEW MINS AFTER CHK ON FREQ 128.52, WE WERE GIVEN 'DSND TO FL310 FOR TFC.' WE STARTED DOWN AND WERE TOLD TO BE AT FL310 IN 4 MINS OR LESS. WHEN FREQ 128.52 SAID, 'I SEE YOU ARE GOING TO DALLAS...,' I STARTED WONDERING IF WE HAD A PROB BECAUSE WE WERE GOING TO LAS VEGAS, NV. I ASKED 128.52 IF HE WAS TALKING TO US (OUR FLT AND NUMBER). HE THEN CLARIFIED HE HAD BEEN TALKING TO ANOTHER ACFT. WE THEN REALIZED WE MAY HAVE TAKEN A CLRNC, AND POSSIBLY A HDOF FOR ANOTHER ACFT. WE STOPPED OUR DSCNT AT FL320 WHILE WE WERE GETTING THE SIT CLARIFIED. FREQ 128.52 THEN RECLRED US TO FL350 AND SAID 'SORRY ABOUT THE CONFUSION, THANKS FOR THE HELP' AND PUT US ON FREQ 134.35. 134.35 SAID THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO CONFLICT. APPARENTLY THERE WERE 2 ACFT WITH THE SAME CALL NUMBERS ON THE SAME FREQ AND WE WERE NOT ADVISED.
