Narrative:

Approaching dal I was cleared to land on runway 31R but was kept about 2000 ft AGL until a 2-3 mi final by the controller. I requested and was given a 360 degree turn to lose altitude (to the right). On completion of the turn I lined up and landed on runway 31L instead of runway 31R (parallel runway). The controller (tower) indicated that the incident was 'no biggie' and did not want me to call the tower. I feel that nighttime and unfamiliarity with the airport contributed to the mistake. Conditions were VFR and there was no other traffic for either runway at the time. This was completely inadvertent.

Title: ATX CARGO PLT OF A C310 LANDED ON THE WRONG PARALLEL RWY AT NIGHT. TWR SAID NO CONFLICT.

Narrative: APCHING DAL I WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 31R BUT WAS KEPT ABOUT 2000 FT AGL UNTIL A 2-3 MI FINAL BY THE CTLR. I REQUESTED AND WAS GIVEN A 360 DEG TURN TO LOSE ALT (TO THE R). I FEEL THAT NIGHTTIME AND UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE ARPT CONTRIBUTED TO THE MISTAKE. CONDITIONS WERE VFR AND THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC FOR EITHER RWY AT THE TIME. THIS WAS COMPLETELY INADVERTENT.
