Narrative:

At the gate at ord, ground crew calls ready to go. We do the just prior checklist, verifying doors are closed. We then call ramp control for push clearance. Clearance received. I released parking brakes and let ground crew know brakes released, cleared to push. He acknowledges and starts the push. We move approximately 2 ft and stopped suddenly. We are informed by ground crew that the aircraft has come in contact with catering truck. Damage done to left aileron.

Title: MD80. TUG DRIVER HIT A CATERING TRUCK WITH THE ACFT WING WHEN PUSHING BACK AN AIRPLANE FROM THE GATE.

Narrative: AT THE GATE AT ORD, GND CREW CALLS READY TO GO. WE DO THE JUST PRIOR CHKLIST, VERIFYING DOORS ARE CLOSED. WE THEN CALL RAMP CTL FOR PUSH CLRNC. CLRNC RECEIVED. I RELEASED PARKING BRAKES AND LET GND CREW KNOW BRAKES RELEASED, CLRED TO PUSH. HE ACKNOWLEDGES AND STARTS THE PUSH. WE MOVE APPROX 2 FT AND STOPPED SUDDENLY. WE ARE INFORMED BY GND CREW THAT THE ACFT HAS COME IN CONTACT WITH CATERING TRUCK. DAMAGE DONE TO L AILERON.
