Narrative:

On may/fri/98, at approximately XX45 am, I filed, flew and was cleared on V476 at 6000 ft. I noticed later during the flight that the MEA for V476 is 9000 ft. My commercial chart was worn at the point where the MEA was posted. I feel that a recommendation to commercial chart maker should be made that en route charts be updated more frequently to avoid occurrences such as this.

Title: PLT OF AN ATX C208, CARAVAN, FLT PLANNED AND WAS CLRED BY ATC, TO FLY 3000 FT BELOW THE MEA (MINIMUM ENRTE ALT). THE PLT DID NOT OBSERVE THE CORRECT MEA ALT ON HIS WORN IFR ENRTE CHART.

Narrative: ON MAY/FRI/98, AT APPROX XX45 AM, I FILED, FLEW AND WAS CLRED ON V476 AT 6000 FT. I NOTICED LATER DURING THE FLT THAT THE MEA FOR V476 IS 9000 FT. MY COMMERCIAL CHART WAS WORN AT THE POINT WHERE THE MEA WAS POSTED. I FEEL THAT A RECOMMENDATION TO COMMERCIAL CHART MAKER SHOULD BE MADE THAT ENRTE CHARTS BE UPDATED MORE FREQUENTLY TO AVOID OCCURRENCES SUCH AS THIS.
