Narrative:

After normal pushback from jetway, we started both engines, set the parking brake and notified ground crew to disconnect. They disconnected tow bar and turned it 90 degrees to aircraft centerline (not normal procedure) and hooked it to a tug and proceeded to drive away. One of the tow bar wheels broke as it was wedged under aircraft front wheels.
