Narrative:

Took off from runway 32L. Cleared initially to 5000 ft. Upon reaching 5000 ft, cleared by chicago departure to 11000 ft, which the entire crew heard and the first officer read back to the controller. Passing 6000 ft, the controller asked if we were leveling at 6000 ft. The first officer replied 'negative' and that we had been cleared to 11000 ft. The controller then gave us a heading and cleared us to 11000 ft.

Title: AN ACR B727 FLC WAS GIVEN A CLRNC TO CLB TO 11000 FT, BUT THE DEP CTLR APPARENTLY FORGOT ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT.

Narrative: TOOK OFF FROM RWY 32L. CLRED INITIALLY TO 5000 FT. UPON REACHING 5000 FT, CLRED BY CHICAGO DEP TO 11000 FT, WHICH THE ENTIRE CREW HEARD AND THE FO READ BACK TO THE CTLR. PASSING 6000 FT, THE CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE LEVELING AT 6000 FT. THE FO REPLIED 'NEGATIVE' AND THAT WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO 11000 FT. THE CTLR THEN GAVE US A HEADING AND CLRED US TO 11000 FT.
