Narrative:

Prior to landing, while entering the downwind for runway 17, I was in communication with another pilot flying a C150, he had just departed sky acres. He cautioned me regarding deer on the first 1/4 of the active runway 17. I continued in the downwind, set up for landing, thinking I had deployed/lowered the landing gear, extended my approach to a point beyond the deer sighting and landed. Cause: pilot error. Distraction from landing checklist.
