Narrative:

On the bonham arrival, I requested the speed restr at karla be deleted. Approach said they were unable to waive the restr, cross at 250 KTS. Captain was flying the aircraft and misunderstood the controller. He thought controller said the restr was waived. Meanwhile, I became busy with the approach plate and did not xchk his compliance with the restr. After crossing karla, controller asked for our airspeed, which was in excess of 250 KTS. The captain slowed the aircraft promptly. There did not seem to be any traffic conflicts as a result of the excess speed. Lesson learned: always xchk to ensure compliance even if the other guy seems to understand the clearance.

Title: AN ACR MD80 FLC REQUESTED THAT THE SPD RESTR BE REMOVED AT KARLA. THE CTLR WAS UNABLE, BUT THE CAPT THOUGHT THAT HE HAD APPROVED THE REQUEST, SO HE KEPT THE SPD UP. THE ALERT CTLR CORRECTED HIM IN TIME TO PREVENT A CONFLICT.

Narrative: ON THE BONHAM ARR, I REQUESTED THE SPD RESTR AT KARLA BE DELETED. APCH SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO WAIVE THE RESTR, CROSS AT 250 KTS. CAPT WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND MISUNDERSTOOD THE CTLR. HE THOUGHT CTLR SAID THE RESTR WAS WAIVED. MEANWHILE, I BECAME BUSY WITH THE APCH PLATE AND DID NOT XCHK HIS COMPLIANCE WITH THE RESTR. AFTER XING KARLA, CTLR ASKED FOR OUR AIRSPD, WHICH WAS IN EXCESS OF 250 KTS. THE CAPT SLOWED THE ACFT PROMPTLY. THERE DID NOT SEEM TO BE ANY TFC CONFLICTS AS A RESULT OF THE EXCESS SPD. LESSON LEARNED: ALWAYS XCHK TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE EVEN IF THE OTHER GUY SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THE CLRNC.
