Narrative:

Landing at sfo, gear door light did not go out. Went around and performed book procedure including an inspection which indicated left door not closed. Landed runway 28L stopping on runway to pin gear. We were towed to the gate. We declared an emergency and requested the equipment standby. No emergency authority/authorized used beyond normal ATC sequencing except stopping on runway. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was an md super 80 and the aircraft was removed from service, jacked and the landing gear swung, a left main landing gear door lock proximity switch was replaced.

Title: AN MD SUPER 80 ON APCH AT 3000 FT DECLARED AN EMER DUE TO A MAIN LNDG GEAR DOOR WARNING CAUSED BY A FAILED PROX SWITCH.

Narrative: LNDG AT SFO, GEAR DOOR LIGHT DID NOT GO OUT. WENT AROUND AND PERFORMED BOOK PROC INCLUDING AN INSPECTION WHICH INDICATED L DOOR NOT CLOSED. LANDED RWY 28L STOPPING ON RWY TO PIN GEAR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS AN MD SUPER 80 AND THE ACFT WAS REMOVED FROM SVC, JACKED AND THE LNDG GEAR SWUNG, A L MAIN LNDG GEAR DOOR LOCK PROX SWITCH WAS REPLACED.
