Narrative:
Approaching stl we were given a descent to 2100 ft by stl approach. During the descent we inadvertently lost contact with approach for 2-3 mins. Upon investigation we discovered that the first officer accidentally hit the xfer switch on the #1 communication. Once we realized that we had lost contact, we re-established contact immediately.
