Narrative:

During vectors for approach to runway 28R at pit, and approximately 1000 ft above overcast, pit approach issued a turn to intercept the localizer from a 180 degree heading base leg (intercept heading was 240 degrees). I replied the heading change and the first officer, who was manipulating the controls, turned to new heading. At that point we received a TCASII TA and RA to climb. Simultaneously, pit approach issued a descend now clearance. We visually acquired the dash 8. He appeared to be climbing and approach stated thus. Approach immediately issued a 180 degree turn for us away from the approach corridor. At that point we received a second TA/RA to descend. I replied new heading change and we initiated turn. I informed approach of our climb RA. He responded, 'no he is climbing.' both TA/RA's had sounded and then stopped within 30 seconds. Approach gave us a new heading of 100 degrees, which appeared to be a realignment on the extended downwind for runway 28R. The entire sequence of events happened in less than 1 min. Some radio frequency clashes and congestion occurred during the event.

Title: RPTED TCASII RA RECEIVED BY RPTR'S DSNDING MD80 ON A CLBING ACR DH8. NO RPTED LOSS OF SEPARATION.

Narrative: DURING VECTORS FOR APCH TO RWY 28R AT PIT, AND APPROX 1000 FT ABOVE OVCST, PIT APCH ISSUED A TURN TO INTERCEPT THE LOC FROM A 180 DEG HDG BASE LEG (INTERCEPT HDG WAS 240 DEGS). I REPLIED THE HDG CHANGE AND THE FO, WHO WAS MANIPULATING THE CTLS, TURNED TO NEW HDG. AT THAT POINT WE RECEIVED A TCASII TA AND RA TO CLB. SIMULTANEOUSLY, PIT APCH ISSUED A DSND NOW CLRNC. WE VISUALLY ACQUIRED THE DASH 8. HE APPEARED TO BE CLBING AND APCH STATED THUS. APCH IMMEDIATELY ISSUED A 180 DEG TURN FOR US AWAY FROM THE APCH CORRIDOR. AT THAT POINT WE RECEIVED A SECOND TA/RA TO DSND. I REPLIED NEW HDG CHANGE AND WE INITIATED TURN. I INFORMED APCH OF OUR CLB RA. HE RESPONDED, 'NO HE IS CLBING.' BOTH TA/RA'S HAD SOUNDED AND THEN STOPPED WITHIN 30 SECONDS. APCH GAVE US A NEW HDG OF 100 DEGS, WHICH APPEARED TO BE A REALIGNMENT ON THE EXTENDED DOWNWIND FOR RWY 28R. THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 1 MIN. SOME RADIO FREQ CLASHES AND CONGESTION OCCURRED DURING THE EVENT.
