Narrative:

On final to runway 35R (dfw), TCASII issued TA's twice, then an RA stating 'descend now' and commanded a descent of about 1200 FPM. The descent was initiated as I saw a twin engine turboprop out the left window at a distance of between 100 and 200 yards and closing. (His heading approximately 040 degrees.) TCASII issued a 'clear of conflict' message approximately 5 seconds after initial warning. I spoke with the TRACON supervisor who reviewed the data and said that no traffic was observed on radar that conflicted with us. The other aircraft was obviously transponder/mode C equipped and by virtue of its size I would suspect he was also on an IFR flight plan.
