Narrative:

After a review of the electronic data by the flight department, I have been notified by flight operations technician that flight departed without receiving a closeout. Upon review of the events surrounding this, the flight crew believes that we had a closeout at the time as we had requested a new takeoff performance for the departure. It was assumed that the new numbers, having been received by the flight engineer and passed forward, contained the data from both the new takeoff performance and the closeout. I am now being advised that the flight left without a closeout. I can only speculate at this time that we felt we had the numbers based upon the receipt of the new takeoff performance and the data passed forward to the first officer and myself. The flight operated in a normal manner and was uneventful. Supplemental information from acn 390529: received a revised closeout during cruise. Supplemental information from acn 390760: I asked the flight engineer to request a takeoff performance for runway 17R flaps 5 degrees via ACARS. It took some time to receive a reply, but when the takeoff performance came back, it had data for full length runway 17R flaps 5 degrees with a lower ptow than on our original takeoff performance. There was a discussion of the lower ptow and the trim setting.

Title: B727 FLC HAD WTS AND PERFORMANCE TKOF INFO, BUT APPARENTLY NOT THE CURRENT ONES, BECAUSE THEIR ACR NOTIFIED THEM LATER THAT THEY HAD TAKEN OFF WITHOUT WT CLOSEOUT.

Narrative: AFTER A REVIEW OF THE ELECTRONIC DATA BY THE FLT DEPT, I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY FLT OPS TECHNICIAN THAT FLT DEPARTED WITHOUT RECEIVING A CLOSEOUT. UPON REVIEW OF THE EVENTS SURROUNDING THIS, THE FLC BELIEVES THAT WE HAD A CLOSEOUT AT THE TIME AS WE HAD REQUESTED A NEW TKOF PERFORMANCE FOR THE DEP. IT WAS ASSUMED THAT THE NEW NUMBERS, HAVING BEEN RECEIVED BY THE FE AND PASSED FORWARD, CONTAINED THE DATA FROM BOTH THE NEW TKOF PERFORMANCE AND THE CLOSEOUT. I AM NOW BEING ADVISED THAT THE FLT LEFT WITHOUT A CLOSEOUT. I CAN ONLY SPECULATE AT THIS TIME THAT WE FELT WE HAD THE NUMBERS BASED UPON THE RECEIPT OF THE NEW TKOF PERFORMANCE AND THE DATA PASSED FORWARD TO THE FO AND MYSELF. THE FLT OPERATED IN A NORMAL MANNER AND WAS UNEVENTFUL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 390529: RECEIVED A REVISED CLOSEOUT DURING CRUISE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 390760: I ASKED THE FE TO REQUEST A TKOF PERFORMANCE FOR RWY 17R FLAPS 5 DEGS VIA ACARS. IT TOOK SOME TIME TO RECEIVE A REPLY, BUT WHEN THE TKOF PERFORMANCE CAME BACK, IT HAD DATA FOR FULL LENGTH RWY 17R FLAPS 5 DEGS WITH A LOWER PTOW THAN ON OUR ORIGINAL TKOF PERFORMANCE. THERE WAS A DISCUSSION OF THE LOWER PTOW AND THE TRIM SETTING.
