Narrative:

Flight departed dfw on runway 35L. We were following a B757 approximately 4 mi and had allowed 2 mins for separation. I rotated smoothly and was climbing out at about V2 +20 with flaps and slats extended. We received a visual and aural windshear alert followed by a loss of about 40 KIAS. PF responded with immediate action of emergency procedures: disconnected autothrottles and went to maximum power. I followed command bars to reduce pitch to about 5 degrees nose up. Outside air temperature was 12 degrees C on the ram air temperature and we were in smooth air and light rain. We had no violent moment, just a smooth roll-off of airspeed. We made a PIREP about our encounter to dfw departure control.
