Narrative:

Crack/tear left top tail section. Possible from deicing after door closed. Noticed on postflt inspection. Flew dtw-ord, no irregularities. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was an airbus A320 and no damage was noted on the preflight check at the departure station. The reporter said the damage to the composite cap consisted of an 18 inch tear with a 1.5 inch dent on the left side of the cap.

Title: AN AIRBUS A320 ON POSTFLT CHK WAS FOUND TO HAVE A DAMAGED VERT STABILIZER CAP POSSIBLY CAUSED BY A DEICING TRUCK.

Narrative: CRACK/TEAR L TOP TAIL SECTION. POSSIBLE FROM DEICING AFTER DOOR CLOSED. NOTICED ON POSTFLT INSPECTION. FLEW DTW-ORD, NO IRREGULARITIES. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS AN AIRBUS A320 AND NO DAMAGE WAS NOTED ON THE PREFLT CHK AT THE DEP STATION. THE RPTR SAID THE DAMAGE TO THE COMPOSITE CAP CONSISTED OF AN 18 INCH TEAR WITH A 1.5 INCH DENT ON THE L SIDE OF THE CAP.
