Narrative:

Our flight departed stl for ind on the gateway departure. A few mins after leveloff at FL290, center asked where we were going. We realized that we had overflown the next departure radial and were south of course. Center then gave us a left turn back to rejoin the departure. I attribute the missed turn to cockpit distractions, such as getting out the approach plates for the destination and other such activities. One way to prevent this from happening would be for only 1 pilot at a time to do administrative chores.
