Narrative:

Socal assigned heading 320 degrees, vector for ILS runway 6R vny. No new heading assigned or any other ATC transmission received for nearly 2 mins. Changed to communication #2 and re- established contact. Socal assigned heading 180 degrees and advised radar contact lost. Radar contact established and ILS completed to landing. 2 days later, took aircraft to avionics shop. Technician tested radios, antennas, cables and connectors. No obvious cause, but suspect moisture or corrosion in connector was responsible for weak reception. Radios checked ok. We were very concerned because of the IMC (clouds and heavy rain) and mountains obscured in clouds, which existed at the time of communication failure. Controller was unhappy with us when we re-established radio contact. We did our best, but equipment problems prevented receipt of ATC instructions.

Title: PLT OF KING AIR CPR ACFT HAS BRIEF LOST COM SIT. RADAR CONTACT LOST AS WELL, RE-ESTABLISHED AND ILS APCH COMPLETED.

Narrative: SOCAL ASSIGNED HDG 320 DEGS, VECTOR FOR ILS RWY 6R VNY. NO NEW HEADING ASSIGNED OR ANY OTHER ATC XMISSION RECEIVED FOR NEARLY 2 MINS. CHANGED TO COM #2 AND RE- ESTABLISHED CONTACT. SOCAL ASSIGNED HEADING 180 DEGS AND ADVISED RADAR CONTACT LOST. RADAR CONTACT ESTABLISHED AND ILS COMPLETED TO LNDG. 2 DAYS LATER, TOOK ACFT TO AVIONICS SHOP. TECHNICIAN TESTED RADIOS, ANTENNAS, CABLES AND CONNECTORS. NO OBVIOUS CAUSE, BUT SUSPECT MOISTURE OR CORROSION IN CONNECTOR WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR WEAK RECEPTION. RADIOS CHKED OK. WE WERE VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE IMC (CLOUDS AND HVY RAIN) AND MOUNTAINS OBSCURED IN CLOUDS, WHICH EXISTED AT THE TIME OF COM FAILURE. CTLR WAS UNHAPPY WITH US WHEN WE RE-ESTABLISHED RADIO CONTACT. WE DID OUR BEST, BUT EQUIP PROBS PREVENTED RECEIPT OF ATC INSTRUCTIONS.
