Narrative:
I was assigned the #2 engine inspection on the l-chk for aircraft YYY on the night of nov/xx/97. One of my cards was to change the ignitors and inspect the cables. After I performed the operational check of the ignitors and they passed, I noticed my safety wire job on the cannon plugs to the excitor boxes were sloppy, and decided to rewire them. I pulled both cannon plugs off to inspect the integrity of the safety wire holes then was called to the other side of the engine to help another mechanic. I ended up helping him for longer than planned and forgot to put the cannon plugs back on the excitors. The plane left the hangar for the terminal and the #2 engine would not start. They had to deplane the passenger and send the plane back to the hangar, resulting in a lengthy delay.
