Narrative:

The ATIS reported winds for runway 24 were 160 degrees at 12 KTS. Prior to takeoff roll, tower reported wind 170 degrees at 20 KTS. Gusty winds continued through the takeoff roll causing considerable difficulty maintaining runway centerline. At rotation the aircraft rolled slightly to the right. I was concerned about the bank angle close to the ground. After leveling at cruise altitude the flight attendants informed us that they had heard numerous unusual noises including a scraping noise on takeoff. We returned for an overweight landing at lhr. Maintenance inspection revealed no damage.

Title: B767 RPTR FO TAKING OFF ON RWY 24 WITH GUSTY WINDS FROM 170 DEGS OVER-ROTATED AND HIT TAILSKID. FLT ATTENDANTS LATER RPTED HEARING SCRAPING NOISE ON TKOF SO FLC RETURNED FOR ACFT INSPECTION AND LANDED OVERWT. NO DAMAGE WAS FOUND.

Narrative: THE ATIS RPTED WINDS FOR RWY 24 WERE 160 DEGS AT 12 KTS. PRIOR TO TKOF ROLL, TWR RPTED WIND 170 DEGS AT 20 KTS. GUSTY WINDS CONTINUED THROUGH THE TKOF ROLL CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DIFFICULTY MAINTAINING RWY CTRLINE. AT ROTATION THE ACFT ROLLED SLIGHTLY TO THE R. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE BANK ANGLE CLOSE TO THE GND. AFTER LEVELING AT CRUISE ALT THE FLT ATTENDANTS INFORMED US THAT THEY HAD HEARD NUMEROUS UNUSUAL NOISES INCLUDING A SCRAPING NOISE ON TKOF. WE RETURNED FOR AN OVERWT LNDG AT LHR. MAINT INSPECTION REVEALED NO DAMAGE.
