Narrative:

I set up for the departure out of swf to weard intersection. First officer said they always get shortcut to lake henry. I dialed in the radial to lake henry and ATC asked if we'd be ready at the end, then the flight attendant came up and said she was ready. I ended up not changing the frequency to lake henry. After departure we were cleared to intercept the radial to lake henry as expected. I started turn early as we were handed off to ZBW. First officer had the right frequency, but didn't notice I was turning early. Before I finished turning to intercept the 'wrong' radial, bos gave us a heading and a climb. After I saw I was turning 60 degrees back to the right, I noticed I had the wrong frequency. I don't think it ended up being a problem. Contributing factors: I had a virus and wasn't as sharp as I should have been. I was flying with a notoriously weak first officer.

Title: AN ACR MLG FLC STARTED A TURN TO INTERCEPT THE WRONG RADIAL. THE ARTCC CTLR GAVE THEM A VECTOR BEFORE THEIR ERRONEOUS TURN HAD MUCH EFFECT.

Narrative: I SET UP FOR THE DEP OUT OF SWF TO WEARD INTXN. FO SAID THEY ALWAYS GET SHORTCUT TO LAKE HENRY. I DIALED IN THE RADIAL TO LAKE HENRY AND ATC ASKED IF WE'D BE READY AT THE END, THEN THE FLT ATTENDANT CAME UP AND SAID SHE WAS READY. I ENDED UP NOT CHANGING THE FREQ TO LAKE HENRY. AFTER DEP WE WERE CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE RADIAL TO LAKE HENRY AS EXPECTED. I STARTED TURN EARLY AS WE WERE HANDED OFF TO ZBW. FO HAD THE RIGHT FREQ, BUT DIDN'T NOTICE I WAS TURNING EARLY. BEFORE I FINISHED TURNING TO INTERCEPT THE 'WRONG' RADIAL, BOS GAVE US A HEADING AND A CLB. AFTER I SAW I WAS TURNING 60 DEGS BACK TO THE R, I NOTICED I HAD THE WRONG FREQ. I DON'T THINK IT ENDED UP BEING A PROB. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: I HAD A VIRUS AND WASN'T AS SHARP AS I SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I WAS FLYING WITH A NOTORIOUSLY WEAK FO.
