A PA24 pilot lost radio contact when switching from approach control to tower and by the time he switched to another radio he was well beyond the airport and near a military airport. The ATCT local controller talked him back to his destination.

Narrative:
After being referred to tower from approach control, radio contact was interrupted and after changing radios my position was too far from ict and near mcconnell AFB. Then followed tower instructions to runway 19L and landed. Possible reasons: radio and long day.

Narrative: AFTER BEING REFERRED TO TWR FROM APCH CTL, RADIO CONTACT WAS INTERRUPTED AND AFTER CHANGING RADIOS MY POS WAS TOO FAR FROM ICT AND NEAR MCCONNELL AFB. THEN FOLLOWED TWR INSTRUCTIONS TO RWY 19L AND LANDED. POSSIBLE REASONS: RADIO AND LONG DAY.
