Narrative:

On oct/xa/97 I initiated a short cross country from gxy to 48V with a student for the purpose of refreshing cross country basics. The flight was uneventful, with the exception of the fact that unicom was unavailable for a field advisory (not uncommon at 48V). After a normal landing on runway 33, we taxied back for takeoff on the same runway. We had noted on arrival that the entire ramp area was torn up for reconstruction, despite the fact that no NOTAM was in effect for the construction. As we taxied, with the ramp area being on my right, I was discussing the flight and landing with my student. Consequently, my attention was diverted to the point that I did not notice that several barricades blocking the entrance to the ramp area were positioned so that our right wing would strike them. After hitting the first barricade, I realized what was happening and quickly turned the aircraft to the left, however, 3 or 4 more of the barricades were struck and knocked over. They were spaced about 3 ft apart from each other. I inspected the right wing and found no damage, so we departed and made an uneventful return trip to gxy.

Narrative: ON OCT/XA/97 I INITIATED A SHORT XCOUNTRY FROM GXY TO 48V WITH A STUDENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF REFRESHING XCOUNTRY BASICS. THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FACT THAT UNICOM WAS UNAVAILABLE FOR A FIELD ADVISORY (NOT UNCOMMON AT 48V). AFTER A NORMAL LNDG ON RWY 33, WE TAXIED BACK FOR TKOF ON THE SAME RWY. WE HAD NOTED ON ARR THAT THE ENTIRE RAMP AREA WAS TORN UP FOR RECONSTRUCTION, DESPITE THE FACT THAT NO NOTAM WAS IN EFFECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION. AS WE TAXIED, WITH THE RAMP AREA BEING ON MY R, I WAS DISCUSSING THE FLT AND LNDG WITH MY STUDENT. CONSEQUENTLY, MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED TO THE POINT THAT I DID NOT NOTICE THAT SEVERAL BARRICADES BLOCKING THE ENTRANCE TO THE RAMP AREA WERE POSITIONED SO THAT OUR R WING WOULD STRIKE THEM. AFTER HITTING THE FIRST BARRICADE, I REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND QUICKLY TURNED THE ACFT TO THE L, HOWEVER, 3 OR 4 MORE OF THE BARRICADES WERE STRUCK AND KNOCKED OVER. THEY WERE SPACED ABOUT 3 FT APART FROM EACH OTHER. I INSPECTED THE R WING AND FOUND NO DAMAGE, SO WE DEPARTED AND MADE AN UNEVENTFUL RETURN TRIP TO GXY.
