Narrative:
Taxied from ramp to what was active runway according to windsock (runway 35). Did pre-takeoff checklist and called over unicom that I was departing runway 35. Tower called and said cleared for takeoff runway 35. I acknowledged and departed. After, I asked the tower when they opened and he informed me of the hours of operation. I had landed at mrb earlier (approximately 1 1/2 hours) before the tower opened. I couldn't figure out why I had brain fade and thought the tower was closed. I operate in and out of mrb 3 times a week. My only answer is fatigue. I had flown 10 days in a row with 1 duty day of 16 hours. I truly believe my body needed to rest and I had ignored the signs to complete my busy schedule. In the future I will use a relief pilot and insist that I take a day off. My boss and passenger are better off with an unfamiliar part-time pilot than a dangerously fatigued pilot.
