Narrative:

The new computer generated ATIS is difficult to understand to the point of being dangerous. It should be discontinued! I've had 4 incidents in the last 3 weeks where the ATIS gave an altimeter setting and I copied it wrong or my first officer did. Big errors! In the best of conditions it is difficult to understand but add any degradation of the radio and it is unreadable. This technology is obviously premature and we need to go back to humans before someone gets hurt.
