Narrative:

Taxiing for takeoff by the hold short line for runway 15 at asl (harrison county airport). Was 1 or 2 ft off taxiway centerline to left to use all available runway. Heard and felt a 'thud.' I thought it was a pot hole. Didn't feel or sound very major so I elected to takeoff. Passenger (mr X) noticed a REIL close to the taxiway and about the level of the wingtip. Upon landing at GGG, noticed outer layer of fiberglas and finish chipped off of left wingtip on forward edge. To prevent reoccurrence, taxiway ctrlines should be maintained and REIL position and ht may need to be re-evaluated. The next day a flight instructor went to take pictures. The REIL antenna pole was bent over 45 degrees from its normal straight up position. We notified the airport manager. Supplemental information from acn 378983: while taxiing onto active runway 15, the left wingtip struck the runway end identifier light, causing a 1 inch by 2 inch piece of fiberglas to break off. The aircraft could have been positioned directly over the centerline of the taxiway, and I feel as though the REIL could be moved further away from the taxiway.

Title: AN SMA TAXIES TO RWY AT ASL, TX, AND STRIKES A REIL AS IT APCHS THE RWY.

Narrative: TAXIING FOR TKOF BY THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 15 AT ASL (HARRISON COUNTY ARPT). WAS 1 OR 2 FT OFF TXWY CTRLINE TO L TO USE ALL AVAILABLE RWY. HEARD AND FELT A 'THUD.' I THOUGHT IT WAS A POT HOLE. DIDN'T FEEL OR SOUND VERY MAJOR SO I ELECTED TO TKOF. PAX (MR X) NOTICED A REIL CLOSE TO THE TXWY AND ABOUT THE LEVEL OF THE WINGTIP. UPON LNDG AT GGG, NOTICED OUTER LAYER OF FIBERGLAS AND FINISH CHIPPED OFF OF L WINGTIP ON FORWARD EDGE. TO PREVENT REOCCURRENCE, TXWY CTRLINES SHOULD BE MAINTAINED AND REIL POS AND HT MAY NEED TO BE RE-EVALUATED. THE NEXT DAY A FLT INSTRUCTOR WENT TO TAKE PICTURES. THE REIL ANTENNA POLE WAS BENT OVER 45 DEGS FROM ITS NORMAL STRAIGHT UP POS. WE NOTIFIED THE ARPT MGR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 378983: WHILE TAXIING ONTO ACTIVE RWY 15, THE L WINGTIP STRUCK THE RWY END IDENTIFIER LIGHT, CAUSING A 1 INCH BY 2 INCH PIECE OF FIBERGLAS TO BREAK OFF. THE ACFT COULD HAVE BEEN POSITIONED DIRECTLY OVER THE CTRLINE OF THE TXWY, AND I FEEL AS THOUGH THE REIL COULD BE MOVED FURTHER AWAY FROM THE TXWY.
