Narrative:

Overshoot of leveloff altitude of FL250 by 600 ft. Lateral clrncs were given by ATC. Block 4 autoplt. Error was caught and went from FL256 back to FL250, no conflict of traffic. Supplemental information from acn 379050: distraction was due to being given direct to honie. Coordinates were being inputted into the omega (when altitude was missed). The correct altitude was set into the autoplt. The aircraft autoplt was a type 4 which does not have altitude capture. ATC notified the flight crew that they were above altitude.

Title: FLC OF A B727 OVERSHOT CLB ALT DUE TO DEPENDING ON THE AUTOPLT TO CAPTURE SELECTED ALT WITHOUT ALT CAPTURE FEATURE. ATC INTERVENED TO ALERT THEM OF THE OVERSHOOT.

Narrative: OVERSHOOT OF LEVELOFF ALT OF FL250 BY 600 FT. LATERAL CLRNCS WERE GIVEN BY ATC. BLOCK 4 AUTOPLT. ERROR WAS CAUGHT AND WENT FROM FL256 BACK TO FL250, NO CONFLICT OF TFC. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 379050: DISTR WAS DUE TO BEING GIVEN DIRECT TO HONIE. COORDINATES WERE BEING INPUTTED INTO THE OMEGA (WHEN ALT WAS MISSED). THE CORRECT ALT WAS SET INTO THE AUTOPLT. THE ACFT AUTOPLT WAS A TYPE 4 WHICH DOES NOT HAVE ALT CAPTURE. ATC NOTIFIED THE FLC THAT THEY WERE ABOVE ALT.
