Narrative:

At lga due to hydraulic fluid leak, maintenance took our aircraft OTS. A spare aircraft was towed from the hangar where maintenance had been performed on the APU and the #1 fuel quantity system. Aircraft required an origination preflight inspection. This was performed at approximately XX00 local. Predep and takeoff were normal. During climb out, so (flight engineer) noticed #1 fuel quantity decreasing rapidly. Checklist was performed for fuel quantity gauge decreasing at abnormal rate. Right wing felt increasingly heavy. Declared an emergency and diverted to jfk. Landing was normal at maximum landing weight 154500 pounds. During maintenance inspection, the left wing fuel cap was missing. Estimated fuel loss, 6000-7000 pounds.
