Narrative:

Inbound mia dvall arrival/mth transition. Requested heading 060 degrees until southeast of airport then direct to runway 30 on frequency 124.7 to avoid WX at wever. Request approved, however, this deviation put me in the departure corridor from mia. Expedited descent to 9000 ft then subsequently reclred to 7000 ft. Used normal descent rate out of 9000 ft. Without prior warning from ATC, received TCASII TA for traffic 400 ft below our aircraft and off to the west. I slowed my rate of descent to avoid a possible TCASII RA. Passing approximately 8300 ft controller queried us in upset tone if we were descending to 7000 ft. We replied we were, but slowed the descent for the traffic. ATC advised the traffic was 5 mi away, but visually looked closer. Continued descent to 7000 ft and received further vectors to localizer runway 30. Had 2 partially blocked xmissions from ATC on 133.05 and was slow to turn off localizer to north heading after controller has just cleared us to intercept and fly inbound. We verified the clearance and complied. Remainder of approach and landing normal.

Title: AN ACR B757 FLC RELATES THEIR EXPERIENCES WHILE AVOIDING WX AND ENCOUNTERING TFC DURING AN APCH TO MIA. NO CONFLICT, BUT SOME CONCERN REGARDING THEIR DSCNT RATE FROM THE TRACON CTLR.

Narrative: INBOUND MIA DVALL ARR/MTH TRANSITION. REQUESTED HDG 060 DEGS UNTIL SE OF ARPT THEN DIRECT TO RWY 30 ON FREQ 124.7 TO AVOID WX AT WEVER. REQUEST APPROVED, HOWEVER, THIS DEV PUT ME IN THE DEP CORRIDOR FROM MIA. EXPEDITED DSCNT TO 9000 FT THEN SUBSEQUENTLY RECLRED TO 7000 FT. USED NORMAL DSCNT RATE OUT OF 9000 FT. WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING FROM ATC, RECEIVED TCASII TA FOR TFC 400 FT BELOW OUR ACFT AND OFF TO THE W. I SLOWED MY RATE OF DSCNT TO AVOID A POSSIBLE TCASII RA. PASSING APPROX 8300 FT CTLR QUERIED US IN UPSET TONE IF WE WERE DSNDING TO 7000 FT. WE REPLIED WE WERE, BUT SLOWED THE DSCNT FOR THE TFC. ATC ADVISED THE TFC WAS 5 MI AWAY, BUT VISUALLY LOOKED CLOSER. CONTINUED DSCNT TO 7000 FT AND RECEIVED FURTHER VECTORS TO LOC RWY 30. HAD 2 PARTIALLY BLOCKED XMISSIONS FROM ATC ON 133.05 AND WAS SLOW TO TURN OFF LOC TO N HDG AFTER CTLR HAS JUST CLRED US TO INTERCEPT AND FLY INBOUND. WE VERIFIED THE CLRNC AND COMPLIED. REMAINDER OF APCH AND LNDG NORMAL.
