Narrative:

During taxi out for takeoff on runway 31 at mdt, tower cleared us to back taxi on runway 31 which is partially closed for construction. Airport NOTAM xx states 'when southeast 2500 ft of runway 13/31 is closed, northwest 7000 ft available all operations except 6000 ft available for runway 13 landing to the displaced threshold. Back taxi and 180 degree turn may be required for runway 31 takeoff.' current commercial chart airport diagram page 21-1 does not depict construction area. We back taxied on runway 31 per tower instructions. During 180 degree turn around tower advised that we had taxied beyond runway temporary threshold. The portion of runway 31 that we were on at that time was completely paved and we observed numerous tire marks from previous aircraft that had performed 180 degree turns in this area. We performed 180 degree turn near the cones which we interpreted as the end of available runway with power at idle. We taxied back down runway 31 to the point of actual temporary threshold which is poorly marked. Takeoff from this point was uneventful. Airport NOTAMS, diagrams and actual runway markings do not clearly depict useable portion of runway 31/13.

Title: LGT ACFT CLRED TO BACK TAXI ON PARTIALLY CLOSED RWY TO DISPLACED THRESHOLD, FLC TAXIED PAST THE POORLY MARKED THRESHOLD. TWR ADVISED THEM AND THEY RETURNED ACFT TO THRESHOLD FOR TKOF.

Narrative: DURING TAXI OUT FOR TKOF ON RWY 31 AT MDT, TWR CLRED US TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 31 WHICH IS PARTIALLY CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION. WE PERFORMED 180 DEG TURN NEAR THE CONES WHICH WE INTERPRETED AS THE END OF AVAILABLE RWY WITH PWR AT IDLE. ARPT NOTAMS, DIAGRAMS AND ACTUAL RWY MARKINGS DO NOT CLRLY DEPICT USEABLE PORTION OF RWY 31/13.
