Narrative:

After takeoff, captain noted a doors light (single chime) and advised me. We immediately made a normal traffic pattern and returned for an uneventful landing. Prior to departure, the captain inspected the fuel door (after refueling) and informed the first officer that it was secure. After landing, the captain deplaned and inspected the fuel door and said that he found it ajar. Contract maintenance was called out and inspected the door and found no damage. The flight redispatched and was completed with no further incidents.
