Narrative:

On jun/xa/97 I was PIC of a C208B on an IFR flight plan from hsv to jvy under far 135 with cargo on board. While talking to louisville international's air traffic controllers and being vectored through their airspace, I reported jvy in sight and accepted the visual for that airport. Currently flying at 7000 ft and needing to lose altitude, I proceeded northbound to approximately the memphis, in, area. Upon reaching this area my altitude was sufficient to make a turn inbound to the airport. Still having visual contact with the airport, I began to fly the visual approach. (Note: the localizer frequency was tuned in for added safety.) upon reaching the decision altitude and still having the approach and runway end lights clearly visible I continued the approach. During the flare, horizontal visibility was momentarily lost and landed partially off runway to the west side. Upon realizing this, I made corrections to bring the aircraft back on the runway. During this maneuver, a runway light was struck with the bottom side of the aircraft (cargo pod). The cargo was not damaged. The cargo pod is also not considered part of the structure of this aircraft.

Title: A C208 PLT LOSES SIGHT OF THE RWY DURING HIS LNDG FLARE AND TOUCHES DOWN OFF OF THE RWY SURFACE. AS HE STEERED BACK TOWARD THE RWY HE STRUCK A RWY LIGHT WITH THE ACFT'S CARGO POD.

Narrative: ON JUN/XA/97 I WAS PIC OF A C208B ON AN IFR FLT PLAN FROM HSV TO JVY UNDER FAR 135 WITH CARGO ON BOARD. WHILE TALKING TO LOUISVILLE INTL'S AIR TFC CTLRS AND BEING VECTORED THROUGH THEIR AIRSPACE, I RPTED JVY IN SIGHT AND ACCEPTED THE VISUAL FOR THAT ARPT. CURRENTLY FLYING AT 7000 FT AND NEEDING TO LOSE ALT, I PROCEEDED NBOUND TO APPROX THE MEMPHIS, IN, AREA. UPON REACHING THIS AREA MY ALT WAS SUFFICIENT TO MAKE A TURN INBOUND TO THE ARPT. STILL HAVING VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE ARPT, I BEGAN TO FLY THE VISUAL APCH. (NOTE: THE LOC FREQ WAS TUNED IN FOR ADDED SAFETY.) UPON REACHING THE DECISION ALT AND STILL HAVING THE APCH AND RWY END LIGHTS CLRLY VISIBLE I CONTINUED THE APCH. DURING THE FLARE, HORIZ VISIBILITY WAS MOMENTARILY LOST AND LANDED PARTIALLY OFF RWY TO THE W SIDE. UPON REALIZING THIS, I MADE CORRECTIONS TO BRING THE ACFT BACK ON THE RWY. DURING THIS MANEUVER, A RWY LIGHT WAS STRUCK WITH THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE ACFT (CARGO POD). THE CARGO WAS NOT DAMAGED. THE CARGO POD IS ALSO NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE STRUCTURE OF THIS ACFT.
