Narrative:

Was tracking filed route on flight plan for commuter. After cmk was tracking 169 degree radial. Intercepted the 044 degree radial from lga. Then tracked the 224 degree course to lga. A few moments later, new york approach asked what heading we were on, then instructed us to turn left to a heading of 190 degrees. Neither I or the first officer heard new york approach state previously from the above mentioned instructions to turn left to a 190 degree heading. Also, the controller never stated that he previously assigned us a 190 degree heading, but he did sound annoyed.
