Narrative:

ZMP held me at FL210 until I was within 40 NM of the lincoln airport which was my destination. I had asked for lower earlier. Center gave me FL200 then gave 14000 ft, altitude set, and frequency change to lnk all at once while I was still at FL200. Lnk asked and I accepted a straight in approach which caused me to use a high rate of descent. On this flight the shop had asked me to check the autoplt for proper pitch operation, so I was using the autoplt and monitoring it performance. At my assigned altitude the autoplt overshot the capture by 200 ft. I was slow on the correction trying to obtain performance information for the shop. Unfortunately I forgot to set the altimeter barometric and local setting was 29.53 causing the overshoot to be 600 ft. Lnk issued me a low altitude alert and I became immediately aware of my mistake. There was no conflict with any other traffic. My mistake was trying to perform an autoplt evaluation during a busy descent. Lnk approach low altitude alert prompted me to immediately correct mistake.

Title: SMT CPR JET WAS CLRED TO DSND TO 14000 FT. THEY OVERSHOT THE INDICATED ALT BY 200 FT. IN ADDITION, THEY FORGOT TO SET THEIR ALTIMETERS DSNDING THROUGH FL180 WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTAL ALT OVERSHOOT OF 600 FT.

Narrative: ZMP HELD ME AT FL210 UNTIL I WAS WITHIN 40 NM OF THE LINCOLN ARPT WHICH WAS MY DEST. I HAD ASKED FOR LOWER EARLIER. CTR GAVE ME FL200 THEN GAVE 14000 FT, ALT SET, AND FREQ CHANGE TO LNK ALL AT ONCE WHILE I WAS STILL AT FL200. LNK ASKED AND I ACCEPTED A STRAIGHT IN APCH WHICH CAUSED ME TO USE A HIGH RATE OF DSCNT. ON THIS FLT THE SHOP HAD ASKED ME TO CHK THE AUTOPLT FOR PROPER PITCH OP, SO I WAS USING THE AUTOPLT AND MONITORING IT PERFORMANCE. AT MY ASSIGNED ALT THE AUTOPLT OVERSHOT THE CAPTURE BY 200 FT. I WAS SLOW ON THE CORRECTION TRYING TO OBTAIN PERFORMANCE INFO FOR THE SHOP. UNFORTUNATELY I FORGOT TO SET THE ALTIMETER BAROMETRIC AND LCL SETTING WAS 29.53 CAUSING THE OVERSHOOT TO BE 600 FT. LNK ISSUED ME A LOW ALT ALERT AND I BECAME IMMEDIATELY AWARE OF MY MISTAKE. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER TFC. MY MISTAKE WAS TRYING TO PERFORM AN AUTOPLT EVALUATION DURING A BUSY DSCNT. LNK APCH LOW ALT ALERT PROMPTED ME TO IMMEDIATELY CORRECT MISTAKE.
