Narrative:

Gear would not retract. Believed we had possible gear problems in addition to retraction problem because of vibrations on takeoff. Proceeded to USA for longer runway plus emergency consideration. For fuel considerations, we landed in crp instead of iah. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states the aircraft was a B737-300 and on takeoff from mty they felt a vibration coming from the nose landing gear. The landing gear handle would not move past the off position to up, suggesting some failure in the squat sensing system. He stated that he did not use the override trigger because with the nose gear vibration and the lock solenoid not energized may mean some serious gear problems. He made the decision to leave the gear as is and divert to crp. Maintenance found the landing gear lever solenoid defective and it was replaced. He also said the flight operations manual is not to clear on this situation.

Title: A B737-300 EXPERIENCED NOSE GEAR VIBRATION ON TKOF AND ON INITIAL CLB COULD NOT MOVE THE LNDG GEAR LEVER PAST OFF POS. DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED TO CRP.

CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THE ACFT WAS A B737-300 AND ON TKOF FROM MTY THEY FELT A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE NOSE LNDG GEAR.
