Narrative:

Course deviation cince 1 to cvg. First officer was flying, I was giving approach PA to passenger. First officer thought he was supposed to turn in to cvg at 80 DME off fdy. When it was 180 degree radial at 76 DME, ATC questioned if we were to turn inbound. Overshot the airway arrival by 6 mi (82 DME). I picked a bad time to do a PA. Should have monitored the intercept, then given PA. Everything gets a little rushed on a short leg dtw- cvg.
