Narrative:

Having been advised of possible crew meal tampering by pilot's union, I requested that the #1 flight attendant check the crew meals for possible tampering. The normal crew meal was given to a passenger as a precaution. The #1 flight attendant did this on her own volition after my talk with her regarding this matter. The passenger bit into the sandwich and bit into a rock. I did not know of this incident until after landing at ewr.
