Narrative:

On approach to lax runway 25L, we were directed to turn right 10 degrees and intercept runway 24R localizer and maintain 8000 ft. We did this but clearance to descend below 8000 ft was delayed. At about 18 mi we were cleared for the visual to runway 24R and directed to contact tower at romen. During the ensuing 3 mins, I failed to make the changeover to tower frequency. We landed without conflict and did not realize the error until we attempted to call tower for clearance to cross runway 24L. Never happened before, will not happen again.
