Narrative:

On feb/zz/97 the APU was replaced on the aircraft, a B757. The installation was completed and operational check and leak check per procedure at approximately XA00 am on feb/xa/97. The last procedure calls for a final inspection by inspection department. Although not a required inspection item, the inspection block was overlooked. There was no incident or accident and airworthiness was not affected on the aircraft. Passenger or crew were never in jeopardy. On the overnight of feb/xb/97, the inspection was completed at mke and appropriate documentation completed. To correct problem, more diligence is needed completing work cards and correlation of required inspection items and inspection blocks in the procedures.
