Narrative:

On feb/wed/97, at approximately XA00 am on the ramp in yyz upon starting the #1 engine I noticed that there were flames reflecting against the jetway at the gate. I informed the captain and we discontinued the start and followed the procedures and the flames blew out because the starter was still motoring. We then started to deplane the passenger when the ramp supervisor informed the flight attendant that the fire had restarted from what turned out to be a fuel drain line. We immediately evacuate/evacuationed the aircraft after using the aircraft fire extinguishing system according to procedures. No one was hurt in the incident and the airport fire equipment responded promptly. A great job was done by all involved.
