Narrative:

On jan/xx/97, I was on a training flight with mr X at denton municipal airport in a duchess. A student was seeking his private multi-engine certificate. The student had 500 hours total time and 7 hours instruction in a duchess. Prior to taking the active, I explained the emergency procedure for engine failure on takeoff with emphasis on throttle off first and then applying brakes. After this review of the procedure and approximately 1 hour into the flight, I initiated a simulated engine failure on takeoff with the left mixture control lever. The student froze on the throttles so I loudly said twice, 'throttles off' and then quickly shoved the throttles off. The aircraft did not leave the runway but came to rest a few ft from the edge of the runway. While taxiing/repositioning, the aircraft's left wheel left the runway and a noise was heard. When the left wheel left the runway, the student applied brakes reducing the ground clearance and a noise was heard. We taxied to parking and on postflt found the left propeller had made contact with the ground.

Title: SIMULATED ENG FAILURE IN A BE76. TKOF ABORTED. RWY EXCURSION DURING ENSUING TAXI OP. ACFT DAMAGED, PROP STRIKE.

Narrative: ON JAN/XX/97, I WAS ON A TRAINING FLT WITH MR X AT DENTON MUNICIPAL ARPT IN A DUCHESS. A STUDENT WAS SEEKING HIS PVT MULTI-ENG CERTIFICATE. THE STUDENT HAD 500 HRS TOTAL TIME AND 7 HRS INSTRUCTION IN A DUCHESS. PRIOR TO TAKING THE ACTIVE, I EXPLAINED THE EMER PROC FOR ENG FAILURE ON TKOF WITH EMPHASIS ON THROTTLE OFF FIRST AND THEN APPLYING BRAKES. AFTER THIS REVIEW OF THE PROC AND APPROX 1 HR INTO THE FLT, I INITIATED A SIMULATED ENG FAILURE ON TKOF WITH THE L MIXTURE CTL LEVER. THE STUDENT FROZE ON THE THROTTLES SO I LOUDLY SAID TWICE, 'THROTTLES OFF' AND THEN QUICKLY SHOVED THE THROTTLES OFF. THE ACFT DID NOT LEAVE THE RWY BUT CAME TO REST A FEW FT FROM THE EDGE OF THE RWY. WHILE TAXIING/REPOSITIONING, THE ACFT'S L WHEEL LEFT THE RWY AND A NOISE WAS HEARD. WHEN THE L WHEEL LEFT THE RWY, THE STUDENT APPLIED BRAKES REDUCING THE GND CLRNC AND A NOISE WAS HEARD. WE TAXIED TO PARKING AND ON POSTFLT FOUND THE L PROP HAD MADE CONTACT WITH THE GND.
