Narrative:

While landing runway 15 at hwv, an aircraft passed from right to left in front of me, causing a near midair collision. The aircraft involved was a low wing aircraft. I saw the aircraft at a distance of 100 ft horizontal and 200 ft vertical from me. I believe the situation happened because the low wing was practicing a VOR runway 6 approach to hwv, while I was landing, and completely disrupted the traffic pattern. A near midair report has been filed with the farmingdale FSDO.
