Narrative:

En route from cdr to abr. We were direct the VOR on the 210 degree radial. Approximately 70 mi from abr we called in-range and picked up WX from ASOS. We were VMC with a bright sky and snow covered terrain. ASOS reported northwest winds less than 7 KTS and visibility greater than 10 mi. Approximately 50 mi from abr we broadcast our position and intentions to land on runway 31. We asked for any traffic in the area to advise. There was no response. Approximately 15 mi from the VOR we began receiving TA's from center at our 10-11 O'clock position. The advisories continued until 1-2 mi from the abr VOR. At that time we received a TCASII TA. He saw the aircraft (the captain) approximately 200 ft below with less than 100 ft horizontal separation. The aircraft was traveling southwest, appeared to be a multi-engine with top tanks. It was he believes blue and white, possible a C310 or C414. We notified center of visual contact and landed with no further incident. We had made several advisories over CTAF and again after the traffic passed us and still no response.
