Narrative:

Being vectored to the south for an approach to runway 35R. Captain and first officer both looked for approach plate and neither could find. Captain asked approach for ILS frequency and inbound course and both were set in appropriate navaids. When turning base, approach told captain they could vector us for the center but captain refused. Both checked their 'list of effective pages' and no approach plate. Turning base and final we could see the airport and they cleared us for ILS to the right. Upon landing, captain asked ground control for a telephone number and he called and they said an approach plate had been available since oct/96. Once in the crew room the captain checked with another crew member's charts and there was an approach plate. Looking back, we probably should have not accepted runway 35R but requested runway 35C or a visual to runway 35R. It appears the approach plate was placed in our lockers sometime after we had departed on a week long trip and did not transit through our domicile thus the captain/first officer did not hold the approach plate.

Title: ACR WDB FREIGHTER ON APCH TO DFW. FLC DISCOVERED THEY HAD NO APCH PLATES FOR RWY 35R. CAPT REQUESTED FREQ AND COURSE FROM APCH CTLR AND CONTINUED THE APCH. CTLR OFFERED RWY 35C BUT CAPT ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO RWY 35R. DISTRIBUTION OF CURRENT CHARTS WAS AFTER FLC DEPARTED ON CURRENT SEQUENCE.

Narrative: BEING VECTORED TO THE S FOR AN APCH TO RWY 35R. CAPT AND FO BOTH LOOKED FOR APCH PLATE AND NEITHER COULD FIND. CAPT ASKED APCH FOR ILS FREQ AND INBOUND COURSE AND BOTH WERE SET IN APPROPRIATE NAVAIDS. WHEN TURNING BASE, APCH TOLD CAPT THEY COULD VECTOR US FOR THE CTR BUT CAPT REFUSED. BOTH CHKED THEIR 'LIST OF EFFECTIVE PAGES' AND NO APCH PLATE. TURNING BASE AND FINAL WE COULD SEE THE ARPT AND THEY CLRED US FOR ILS TO THE R. UPON LNDG, CAPT ASKED GND CTL FOR A TELEPHONE NUMBER AND HE CALLED AND THEY SAID AN APCH PLATE HAD BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE OCT/96. ONCE IN THE CREW ROOM THE CAPT CHKED WITH ANOTHER CREW MEMBER'S CHARTS AND THERE WAS AN APCH PLATE. LOOKING BACK, WE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE NOT ACCEPTED RWY 35R BUT REQUESTED RWY 35C OR A VISUAL TO RWY 35R. IT APPEARS THE APCH PLATE WAS PLACED IN OUR LOCKERS SOMETIME AFTER WE HAD DEPARTED ON A WEEK LONG TRIP AND DID NOT TRANSIT THROUGH OUR DOMICILE THUS THE CAPT/FO DID NOT HOLD THE APCH PLATE.
