Narrative:

We were cleared to cross 15 mi southwest of foristell VOR at 8000 ft. There was some confusion during the readback, the controller thought I said 115 mi southwest. Because of this confusion, I didn't put 8000 ft into the altitude alert. This may be one of the factors, why the captain didn't start his descent to cross the fix at 8000 ft. As we were approaching 15 mi from the VOR, I was talking to company calling in-range and didn't think about having to descend. At about 11 mi from the VOR, the controller told us to descend to 8000 ft and we realized we forgot the crossing restr. We then descended to 8000 ft without further incident.
