Narrative:
Received clearance to hold less than 10 NM prior to colax. Programmed FMS hold. Hold page comes up with right turns, did not double check colax published as left turns. Turned wrong direction. Center advised in future to turn right. We need to xchk FMS hold with published pattern. We expected a hold and never received clearance until just prior to fix. Did not xchk FMS.

CTR ADVISED IN FUTURE TO TURN R. WE NEED TO XCHK FMS HOLD WITH PUBLISHED PATTERN. WE EXPECTED A HOLD AND NEVER RECEIVED CLRNC UNTIL JUST PRIOR TO FIX. DID NOT XCHK FMS.
