Narrative:

After being cleared for takeoff to fly heading 185 degrees, takeoff clearance was canceled, then we were again cleared for takeoff. Just as we were lifting off tower advised of traffic turning to 220 degree heading apparently after a go around on runway 13R. The aircraft was not turning or climbing when I got visual with it. I leveled at about 600 ft AGL and allowed him to pass above us. This was about the same time we were told to level at 2000 ft MSL. That altitude would have taken us right into his flight path. We missed the aircraft by at least several hundred ft but there were a couple of anxious moments. Had we not seen him and flown a normal takeoff profile I felt we would have hit this aircraft (MD80). We were too low for TCASII to help. Aircraft going around on runway 13R need to turn sooner or climb faster or both as this was totally preventable.

Title: AN ACR FK10 ON DEP WAS GIVEN A TURN AND CLB AFTER TKOF AND THEN GIVEN TFC INFO ON AN MD80 MAKING A GAR FROM RWY 13R. THE FK10 SAW THE MD80 AND LEVELED OFF UNTIL THE MD80 PASSED HIS ACFT.

Narrative: AFTER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF TO FLY HDG 185 DEGS, TKOF CLRNC WAS CANCELED, THEN WE WERE AGAIN CLRED FOR TKOF. JUST AS WE WERE LIFTING OFF TWR ADVISED OF TFC TURNING TO 220 DEG HDG APPARENTLY AFTER A GAR ON RWY 13R. THE ACFT WAS NOT TURNING OR CLBING WHEN I GOT VISUAL WITH IT. I LEVELED AT ABOUT 600 FT AGL AND ALLOWED HIM TO PASS ABOVE US. THIS WAS ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE WERE TOLD TO LEVEL AT 2000 FT MSL. THAT ALT WOULD HAVE TAKEN US RIGHT INTO HIS FLT PATH. WE MISSED THE ACFT BY AT LEAST SEVERAL HUNDRED FT BUT THERE WERE A COUPLE OF ANXIOUS MOMENTS. HAD WE NOT SEEN HIM AND FLOWN A NORMAL TKOF PROFILE I FELT WE WOULD HAVE HIT THIS ACFT (MD80). WE WERE TOO LOW FOR TCASII TO HELP. ACFT GOING AROUND ON RWY 13R NEED TO TURN SOONER OR CLB FASTER OR BOTH AS THIS WAS TOTALLY PREVENTABLE.
